On My Work

The performances by all three actors make it easy to believe that they have been shut up together for a long time as they negotiate ideas of boundaries and personal space when there is none to be had. The production gets off to a running start and never really slows down, and the actors maintain both that intensity and an organic feeling to the events and emotional interplay throughout, while the guard, aloof from the details of what is going on in the cell, is suitably intimidating. Daniel Csutkai described to us his ideal theater as challenging and discomfiting, and beyond the uneasiness that the continued relevance that elements like the play's portrayals of lying for and about power should inspire, this production achieves that ideal in its compelling staging and, pardon the pun, execution.

Deathwatch, Leah Richards,

These are fascinating performances. (Personally, I was especially taken by Jade Alex as Nina, Daniel Csutkai as Konstantin, and Alison Bennett as Irina.)

The Seagull, Veronica Kaye,

The role of Konstantin is played by Daniel Csutkai who portrays innocence well, with a sense of repression that rings true.

The Seagull, Suzy Goes See,

The cast of ten performed beautifully.  The leads were excellent: Daniel Csutkai as Konstantin Gavrolovich Treplyov,

The Seagull, David Kary

Carratini as Mary alternates between sweetly beguiling and righteously angry at her treatment by the hands of the ruthless Lord Burleigh (Daniel Csutkai).

An Unexpected Execution, Anita Senaratna

Daniel Csutkai slides easily into the role as the sly, sleazy Lord Burleigh.

An Unexpected Execution , Maggie Franklin

Daniel Csutkai was the standout of the men, delivering an entirely believable performance as Toby; the new boy trying to affirm his place in the group with devastating consequences
